TMJ + Jaw Disorders

What is TMJ?

  • Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction syndrome can show up as pain in the ear, neck or jaw, and often includes headaches. Once the problem is properly diagnosed, treatment is often simple.

  • "Bite guards" or "night guards" are commonly used to treat the signs and symptoms of dysfunction and get patients out of pain.

  • A bite adjustment or "equilibration" is often the final stage of treatment for patients needing small changes. Severe cases can require orthodontics, bite reconstruction, or jaw surgery.

  • Veneers are thin porcelain coverings that are bonded to your existing tooth structure in order to improve aesthetics, correcting small, misshapen, worn, discolored, or cracked teeth

  • Crowns also correct misshapen, worn, discolored or cracked teeth, but can cover and protect teeth with existing fillings or deep decay

  • "Bonding" or tooth-colored filling material can preserve the natural look of the teeth while repairing small chips or fractures, restoring small areas of decay, or changing the shape of teeth
